Archaic Garden Technology Still Works

We have a large sand filled run attached to our chicken coop.  We have not had chickens in this location, but the coop is still set up and ready to go so we went ahead and built the run when we moved the coop back in 2009  And we bought the fencing.  If, for whatever reason, we suddenly decide to get some chickens, all we need to do is put up the wire, relocate the garden gnomes and sunbrellas out of the coop, and we are in business.  But that means we have a wide expanse of sandy ground that wants to grow weeds.  Had I ignored this area for years, we would have plenty of grass and probably a few trees growing there now.  So a few times each summer I go through and pull the worst of the weeds and rake the sand.  Well, raking and hoeing a vacant chicken run can be a lot of hard work.  So last night, out of the blue, I realized I might have a vintage garden ornament just sitting around under the apple tree looking antiquey that could help out.

We picked this single wheeled cultivator up at the local junk auction for two or three bucks last year and by golly, it works pretty slick. Beats the heck out of raking.
