After the Rain

Last night we finally got a quarter inch of much needed rain.  My total rainfall for June was 1.8 inches.  I checked the National Weather Service and our official total was 1.96 (lowest in 20years) and our average is 4.33  I gained a day's worth of water in the water tank and I didn't have to water anything for the first time in weeks.  But thanks to diligent watering, the garden is doing very well.  Some of the perennials are suffering but don't look too bad.

Dish of the week is Slaw.
Broccoli Slaw or Cabbage Slaw - take your pick.

The Cole Crop bed

Shy little cauliflower

Broccoli

Late cabbage

Spare tomato, spare cukes (under cages) and next year's strawberries

Summer Squash bed just beginning to flower

Cantaloupes

... just beginning to flower

Bush Beans
I am debating just pulling these out and resting the bed.

Pole Beans

growing like mad

Third and fourth panting of peas.
Right side is almost done

Left side is just now ready

First and Second peas out and replanted with Buckwheat cover crop

First Sweet Corn just about ready to tassle.
It grows inches each day

The end vines needed a little training to climb the trellis

The ones on the other end are climbing straight up on their own!

Second Sweet Corn
Just got its first fertilizer side dress yesterday

Bush cucumbers
New direct sown seeds on this end under cage

These Salad Bush hybrids are MUCH more compact and also flowering
