Freeze Warning

This is why I haven't planted the annual containers, seeded the corn or started the dahlias.  Not frost.  Freeze.  I've covered the pear tree, double covered four trays of annuals and brought the tomato plants into the garden shed.  And I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  1. We have frost warnings and our low should be 32 in Brockport, but who knows. I will not be happy if it destroys our apple and cherry trees that have been loaded with blossoms. We had no apples last year and are due for a good crop. Gary puts are San Marzano starts outside during the day and in the barn at night. Hopefully everything will survive. Lori

    1. 27 degrees in the garden at 6:30 am. The spring perennials are looking pretty droopy

  2. 27 degrees?! Oh dear . . . I'm doing a small experiment this year and am waiting until Memorial Day to plant the garden instead of the Monday after Mother's Day. It will obviously put the plants a couple weeks behind but I'm tired of the "cover everything up so it doesn't freeze" dance. I'm in Northern Utah zone 6b. I hope your green babies don't get too frost bitten.

    1. Everyone is OK. The peppers and sweet potato vines sulked all day but have rallied in the sunshine.
